#3. What would you say is your greatest talent or skill? How have you developed and demonstrated that talent over time?
When it comes to talent or skill, the only thing that I can consider a talent that I posses is drawing. I draw on an everyday basis, creating ideas and using my imagination to put it all onto a piece of a paper. Drawing makes me think. To come up with illustrations on what to draw takes time and then patience to finish it. I draw at least 30 minutes to 1 hour each day to practice and develop my skills as an artist. For me drawing was not something that I acquired naturally, it was a skill that I took interest in and it became a hobby for me over time and through practice. Early on, when I looked at my finished illustrations, I mostly felt like there was something missing in them, or something that they lacked that made me feel dissatisfied in the finished product. In the end, I put unnecessary details into the drawings that did not even fit the illustration itself and had to teach myself not to be too discriminating in illustrating my drawings and instead, to consider this as something I can improve upon in future illustrations. Today, drawing is something I love to do, whether just doodling in class or using my own time to bring my artistic ideas to life. Currently, I am taking a drawing course so that I can spend a bit more time on drawing and learn new skills and styles to develop myself as an illustrator. |
#6. Describe your favorite academic subject and explain how it has influence you.
When it comes to my favorite subject throughout my school experiences, science wins hands down. Science will always interest me as I learn a variety of new things that I may have not known before.(It does not matter what type of science it is). Before 10th grade, I never really took advantage of anything relating to science, like college courses, clubs, etc. I only took the subject as a graduation requirement. I tended to search online for anything science related, whether it was news articles or youtube videos, I was hooked. Throughout the years, science has influenced me, providing intriguing information that I was interested in learning about on my own, but didn’t really take seriously. In 11th grade, I took AP Environmental Science which I believe changed my view of how I should manage resources and inspired me to attempt being more sustainable as a person. At the time, I felt like science was something I could take seriously as a major, but I was not fully really confident on how I would do. Even though science is my favorite subject, it wasn’t something I was really passionate about, but I learn many valuable lessons in every science class I took. Today, I’m taking Physics and it’s really challenging to maintain my grade. When I started this class, I realized how hard science courses may be if I keep taking it seriously. |
